THE ORGANIZATION
The Seaside Heights Business Improvement District (SSHBID) was created 20 years ago as the first town-wide special Improvement district in New Jersey. It encompasses just under 200 businesses spread along the Classic American Boardwalk on the oceanfront, two bayfront areas, and throughout the town. The SSHBID is overseen by a 21-person Board of Directors made up of the typical special improvement district cross section of the business community and other community stakeholders.

The BID maintains the exit82.com website, operates and answers the 833-4SEASIDE virtual toll-free telephone number, and generates a large portion of the social media promoting the town. It also manages the Tourist Development Commission for the Borough.

Most of the events and concerts in the community year-round are produced by outside organizations or the Borough Recreation Department. The SSHBID is responsible for fireworks, Kites in the Heights, the large June and August Arts and Crafts by the Sea craft shows, the Easter Egg Hunt, and First Night. And it supports events produced from outside.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS
The Borough of Seaside Heights is on the Barnegat barrier beach peninsula 90 minutes from New York City and Philadelphia. It has approximately 3,500 year-round residents and is governed by a mayor and council. The approximately one-square mile town has been undergoing an investment boom involving both residential and commercial development.

THE POSITION
The Executive Director of the SSHBID maintains a balance within working with the business community and Borough government on increasing commercial ratables, attracting and nurturing new businesses, increasing tourism, and revitalizing business activity throughout the town year-round. Education and experience in economic development, tourism promotion, and management of a community non-profit organization are essential.

We describe the hours and compensation as negotiable as both can be negotiated based on a candidates experience and capabilities.
